April 2002 was an exciting month for the UK office, as the prestigious Heritage Hallmark Award from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) was presented to Fluent Europe for the FLUENT software code. The IMechE has very strict criteria for awards, and only gives out two or three per year. The FLUENT code was recognized because of the significant contribution it has made to industrial innovation and mechanical engineering over the years. The honor marked the first time that the Award has been given to a software vendor; previous recipients include organizations that have produced the Channel Tunnel and Harrier Jump Jet, along with well known companies such as Rolls Royce and Eurostar Trains. Commenting on the award, Fluent Europe’s Managing Director, Chris King said: “I am delighted to see this recognition of the quality and impact of FLUENT CFD software. The Institution of Mechanical Engineers is the UK’s premier Mechanical Engineering forum and they do not give out these awards lightly. That they should have made the first such award for a software product to FLUENT is all the more special. In doing so, they are recognizing the contribution that the efforts of all sections of the Fluent organization have made to the establishment of CFD as an important engineering tool in many industries.” |
